While home secretary Mr Prasad Ranjan Ray claimed that a police officer had been served show-cause notice for releasing Anup Mondal, a CPI-M man accused in the Nandigram carnage, after he was handed over to them by the CRPF, BUPC supporter Khokon Sith was detained today by officers from the Nandigram police station after he was released from SSKM hospital this morning.
BUPC leader Sheikh Sufiyan alleged that though he had undergone an operation day before yesterday, the Nandigram police today arrested Khokon Sith on false charges. “They have done this to create fear in the minds of Nandigram people, who have stood against the torture of CPI-M cadre for months on end,” he said.
